Best of the Week

I, very purposefully, do not play video games. (I claim obsessive personality disorder as my own and think it wouldn't benefit anyone for me to spend a few weeks angry with anyone who dared trying to pull me away from my game). But even without knowing the game it's from, I can still find this costume really very cool. If only I had that skill.

Then another fury over whitewashed book covers. Oddly enough one of my favorite books ever could be described as historical China with fantastic adventures. (Thanks, Greg). Give me a sec to see if it is still sold.... Yes, here it is...

(I borrowed the Amazon picture, but it's the image I have on mine.)
Very Chinese and very appropriate. I loved this book! If you haven't read it, you should give it a shot.

And I'll go hunt down Silver Pheonix once it hits paperback. Oh, and while I'm thinking about China-based stories, The Initiate Brother by Sean Russell was also quite good. I don't think I followed up the rest of the series. I'll have to add them to my list. And for picking out sections of a culture and transporting them -- Feist's/Wurst's Empire series has a bit of that undertone and is EXCELLENT.

Oh, and a quick visit to xkcd, because all research ends up this way.

And......

.....

Happy Fireworks Day!
