This is what I get from reading agent/editor blogs.
Behler Blog asks, "Is my main character vanilla?" and I don't know!
I mean, zombies have this weird fascination with her, but will readers? And worse, I worry that all my characters are some version of me pared out specifically for their place in the world I imagine for them.
All of them marching lockstep forward, trying to move with time instead of being swallowed up.
All of them clinging anxiously to a set of morals created in their teen years to differentiate themselves from the people of their childhood until hopefully they not only act like, but can become, one of the good people of the world.
How can they not be vanilla! Just like me?
Excuse me, I'm going to go hide under the covers for a few hours.
