Books

As many of you know, I've had pneumonia through the Christmas holidays and my headache/eye issues wouldn't let me read. Though I did read -- nonfiction in much shorter bursts than I usually read anything else, but I made it through several Christmas presents in the last three weeks.

Some Writers Deserve to Starve by Elaura Niles (ok, but not life-changing)
Noble's Book of Writing Blunders and how to avoid them by William Noble (didn't finish)
The Art of War for Writers (enjoyed)
and
BookLife (still reading).

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I'm getting anxious to get to my fiction Christmas presents. I got some great sounding ones. In the next few weeks I'll be reading:

Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow
Grimspace by Ann Aguirre
Bone Song by John Meaney
DoppelGangster (wonderful title) by Laura Resnick
Three Days Dead by Kelly Meding
The Drowning City by Amanda Downum
and
Boneshaker by Cherie Priest

I got one that I'd already read. I'm planning on taking it back and switching it out for something by Ilona Andrews. Several of these books were written by people whose blogs I've happened across and enjoyed, Lilith Saintcrow, Ann Aguirre (actually I think I must have read a guest post of hers somewhere since I just hunted up her blog and it doesn't look familiar), and Ilona Andrews. (I also read Carrie Vaughn and Kim Harrison's blogs but I found their books first.)

Anyway, I'd love to hear opinions on these books (all new to me) or how the rest of you find new authors to read or even suggestions of authors that you love that I should be watching out for. I think I'm going to spend a lot of time reading in the next few weeks (as long as I can avoid the cold Little Boy seems to be developing) trying to recharge my imagination and I'd love to hear what the rest of you are enjoying.
